Beauty Parlor fundraising update from Georgia
In our second podcast episode, “drag show, create beauty, protest, repeat,” our story follows 2 artists and activists fighting against the inhumane policies of the Dream Party, with far-right political inclinations to harm women and LGBTQ+ individuals.
One of their tactics is to limit funding to organizations, sanction NGO’s working with international coalitions in support of women and LGBTQ+ rights, and adhoc attacks. This made it impossible for Beauty Parlor to donate to the Women’s Fund in Georgia, as originally planned in our Spring Fundraiser.

But we found a solution! We worked with Georgian women who understood and intimately followed grassroots-led movements to identify a grantee. That is how we were introduced to Mariam, from Samegrelo, who has been a target of these harmful systemic injustices because she fights for Women and Queer Rights in Georgia. Mariam has lost her job and been fined $12,000.00 for her fight. This doesn’t stop her from protesting for her friends and neighbors who have been wrongfully imprisoned for their own activism. We hope this donation can give her and her child financial stability as she continues to fight for valiant causes in her country.
