What We Do

Our Goals

  • Promote gender equality and women’s empowerment globally.

  • Create feminist salons in migrant-led beauty parlors to build bridges between different cultures, class, and lived experiences for women* and queer folks.

  • Raise funds for women’s initiatives in under-served communities by tapping into the fast-growing beauty industry to support and sustain community efforts.

  • Shift the narrative from individual self-care to a practice of transformative community-care.

Community Care Fundraising

Stories from the Beauty Parlor aims to create a fundraising model in collaboration with the beauty industry, whose annual global income surpasses each year. In the meantime, we are testing a community-led grassroots fundraising program centered around the joy and celebration of diverse beauty, at our local beauty parlors in Berlin! We call it Community Care Fundraising.

This initiative provides financial support to individuals and organizations that are pushing the boundaries to uplift their communities, advocate for local initiatives, and pilot new projects through a feminist lens. During our initial funding phase, we have contributed a diverse range of experts and organizations supporting women, including the UN’s humanitarian program in Gaza, Iranian activists of the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement, and women’s advocates in rural Kosovo and Georgia.

Led by our volunteers, we are learning from their organizing efforts for how Community Care Fundraising can be scaled up once we’re funded to engage with global beauty companies. We want to spotlight changemakers who are “beautifying the world,” and in doing so create a global network for women and LGBTQIA+ causes.

Building a Global Feminist Community

We’re not just here to tell stories – we’re here to build a movement. By connecting activists, storytellers, and changemakers across continents and cultures, we are creating a global network of solidarity where feminist voices uplift each other.

From Berlin to Bogotá, Kinshasa to Karachi, we are forging a space where the desire for change becomes collective action, where self-care becomes community care.
